Welcome to the Learning Essentials Academic Program (LEAP) in the department of Special Education.
The LEAP program focuses on the essential California Alternative Performance Assessment (CAPA) standards in addition to the individualized goals and objectives designed for each student. It concentrates on Specialized Academic Instruction in all content areas and works to provide students with an academically challenging environment while also addressing the acquisition of essential life skills for its special needs students. Students within the LEAP program receive direct instruction in the academic areas of reading, writing, math, science, and social studies, while also receiving services that address their fine motor, gross motor, speech and language, medical, social, and emotional needs.
The LEAP program provides a vital educational foundation for special needs students, and it gives them the fundamental and foundational skills they need to live life to their fullest potential and to become contributing members of their community.
